Washington Butler, who is from Puyallup Washington, was always interested in the arts. She participated in choirs, competed in singing contests as well as appeared in high school and local theatre. She then moved in Los Angeles and studied theatre at the University of Southern California. For a year and an half, she was Belle the princess of Beauty and the Beast. The film initially was she was a bit hesitant because of the violence, nakedness as well as gender-based undertones. Butler started shooting The Stranger Within with Estella and William Baldwin, the psychological thriller in Mallorca, beginning in November of 2011.
